Lochs & Islands 2013
Tours from Ben Doran, Dalmally & Royal Hotels
This is a huge value for money tour which takes in the finest West of Scotland sites and experiences. After settling in at the Hotel and enjoying the first nights entertainment, we are off through the glens on four great and varied excursions.
The trip to Oban takes us through the Pass of Brander and by the Falls of Lora to Oban, here we catch the 12 noon boat to Mull and return to Oban at 2.00 pm. The scenery is just breathtaking and it can all be enjoyed from the comfort of the ships’ lounges and dining areas, or from the open decks. The ferry passes Duart Castle, touches land at Craignure and then returns directly to Oban for the afternoon. Next up is the classic day out to the shores of Loch Lomond and the superb Trossachs area around Aberfoyle. The lands of the great Rob Roy MacGregor, Jacobites, bandits and cattle raiders! Loch Lomond is our largest loch and revered in the songs of our bards through the ages; passing through the Trossachs, we cross the Dukes Pass and stop at Aberfoyle.
Then there is our Optional Tour to the Island of Bute, crossing by the ferry and proceeding to Rothesay town and Mount Stuart House, as handsome a pile as you find anywhere and the quality of the marble in the Chapel will bring tears to your eyes. This is as a result of owning the South Wales coalfields and the docks of both Cardiff and Swansea! Finally, we take the block buster excursion by Blackmount, Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe to Fort William. After lunch, it is down to the Nevis Centre and your fantastic Highland Day Concert with ‘Skipinnish’. We get home in time to relax before your Highland Day Candlelit Dinner and superb evening entertainment.
