Our Tours 2010

Tours from Ben Doran, Dalmally & Royal Hotels

Tours from the Alexandra Hotel

How a tour works

Every tour is made up of a set number of days as advertised in the brochure & newsletter e.g a 6 day tour comprises of 6 days, 5 nights at the hotel and 4 excursions (one is optional).

Each day after breakfast the coach departs on time and proceeds to the first (morning coffee) stop which is often a “place of interest” but may simply be a coffee stop on a slightly longer journey, say to Edinburgh.

The coach stops regularly for comfort stops (called “T & P” in the trade!)  and normally does not exceed 2 hours between such stops – the driver needs to go too! At the lunchtime stop the driver will tell you when to return and will give you a description of the lunchtime stop including any entry costs. You will be informed where and when to rejoin the coach – always a good idea to be a couple of minutes early, as it’s a long walk back to the hotel if you miss the coach!

On return to the hotel, usually 2 hours before dinner, you can take this opportunity to go walkabout in the village or locally, or just get ready for dinner and go for a leisurely pre-dinner drink.

Dinner is normally served at 7pm and everyone gathers in the dining room just before 7. We pride ourselves in efficient service so that everyone can be in the lounge for coffee in good time for the entertainment to start. The entertainers are in full flow from 8:30pm until 10:30 every night and the hotel bars close at 11:30pm. Every tour has one candle lit dinner, a Highland Night (complete with Scottish Piper and Highland Dancers), and off season there is a fancy dress night as well. All great fun!!

Have a great time, and just concentrate on enjoying yourself – we’ll take care of everything else.
